    Ordinary food - you can get the exact same meal from pretty much any of the other cafes. Ordinary coffee. Rubbish, terrible service. Everything takes forever to get to your table whether its busy or not. Given the hype of this place nothing adds up. Maybe back in the day but not now.

    Very cool restaurant ... Good vibes, great menu and always busy. If you want a good night out with friends this place is definitely for you... But... If you want a good coffee... Might have wander further down the street... Slow service, uninterested barista, and bland coffee...

    I think the coffee here is underated, every time I have benn I have been more than happy with my coffee, But I do agree that the service is lacking.

    Well if you don't mind losing your taste buds from bitter scorched tar...go for it! Very noisy and the service definately needs a re-look.

    Service was great, very friendly and quick. Coffee was above average but not extraordinary. Had hot chips, they were great. Overall a good experience.

    Have been a regular there over the years and it has been one my favourite Cafes when in Newcastle (am from Nelson Bay). Though I have noticed it has gone down hill recently- especially the Coffee.

    Food is fine, coffee is fine. Service is abysmal. I keep being dragged back there by people who swear by the place, and without fail it is a horrendous wait for food or coffee. Trying to get attention from waitstaff is more trouble than it's worth. I never go there unless I am seriously outvoted.

    Food, check, location, check, service, double-check, coffee? Need to issue a disclaimer with your coffee - we cook it as fast as we can to put brown liquid on your table in <5 minutes. I'd refrain from serving short blacks in future.

    A bit hit and miss. Sometimes I get a good coffee and sometimes it's bitter and awful. Most of the time the service is good. Mainly go there for the atmosphere though not the quality of the coffee.

    Terrible.. Waited 30 mins to even order and had to get up and chase the waitress down! Then waited an hour for our breakfast :( very dissapointed. Just because your on Darby Street doesnt mean you can stop trying!

    Coffee is fine, but seriously NOT worth the wait. Everyone bangs on about how great Goldies is, but they must know the owners or something.     the coffee is good, the food amazing, and the service? I will answer that question if I ever get any. I only go here if a friend wont hear of going anywhere else.

    I absolutely love Goldbergs!!! Everything is great about the place; however, I have never had a good coffee there. I have since stopped ordering coffee there!

    Lovely atmosphere and a top cuppa. Great service, great flavour, great temperature. Food at Goldbergs was lovely as well, even if the eggs were overcooked a tad :) Definitely one I would go back to.

    Have been here about three times. I have never had trouble with wait times or bad drinks. Had an awesome hot choc there a couple of nights ago. Food has always been good too.
